Minister’s Daughter?

jansmatters.com, July 9, 2025

I appear as a minister’s daughter
Rather than a person with a past

My persona ingrained
My reality a constant clash

I act with apparent compassion
Filled with a sense of derision

My actions entrenched
My passions a constant collision

Outside Inside
Inside Outside

Conflict in the depths of perception
Dissonance at the heart of cognition

Sleepless nights – restless days
Hesitations bred of inhibition

Inside Outside
Outside Inside

My passions a constant collision
My actions entrenched

Filled with a sense of derision
I act with apparent compassion

My reality a constant clash
My persona ingrained

Rather than a person with a past
I appear as a minister’s daughter

Gary, Billy and the duck

October 6, 2024December 16, 2024

Gary was seated at the bar, in his usual spot. It was a little bit early to be happy hour, as his sour expression reinforced. His third beer of the afternoon sat untouched, as he contemplated his surroundings. This neighborhood bar had been both his refuge and prison for many…
